Car Free Commercial Drive was a huge hit yesterday with the streets literally packed with thousands of people enjoying the sun and the spectacle. I snapped some pics . Here is a sample. The rest are available via the linkage below.

I think I may have mentioned this recently. Now I have the photo to show you what I mean. Vancouver’s central city residents have a habit of digging up the council’s grass edging a turning it into a garden. So lovely to see. It sure beats all this wasted water to keep lawns immaculate. click here for photoblog
Well I have found the photoblog to be a good method for showing what is happening in my life with a surprising amount of detail. I enjoy the small pleasures in life.

- Frozen Blue Berries (Commercial Drive, Vancouver)
We got a lot of berries at the farmers market in the weekend and froze them for use in porridge, smoothies etc when they are out of season. The thing is frozen blue berries make an awesome snack. Highly recommended.
Here is the latest installment in the magpie’ing photoblog series. We had a great weekend with an day off on Monday. We got down to the local farmers market and collected a big bag of basil (for pesto) and lots of berry fruit for the freezer (smoothies and porridge)
We managed to magpie a few extra bits and pieces for the flat. You can see the photoblog on the photography pages.

Stumbled upon a nice photoblog site. A daily dose of imagery from Sam Javanrouh’s life.
A nice site to check on from time to time I’d say.

Ah day three, and what results did we get? Another awesome day really. The trend continues of magpie’ing useful things from about the place. It never ceases to amaze how it is possible to transform another persons junk into useful goods again.

So day two dawned beautiful and sunny (as it has been nearly every day since we arrived in Vancouver, although it is noticeably cooler now) and I was up with the Robins and seeing pranabanana off at the bus stop.
I took a circuitous route back to say the least. Alleyways are great. This is not something we have back in NZ, and I didn’t even see that much of it in the UK either. Most blocks are split into two or four areas with back alleys running behind all the houses. All the rubbish and recycling bins are here and it is where most people leave their Magpie pickings for the likes of me!
It was a good haul. You can see the results in my photoblog.

Well it has certainly been pretty full on yesterday and today. Still it is all coming together well. While pranabanana went out and earned us some money I traipsed about the place seeing what I could manifest. We have done pretty well so far. You can see a bit of the new apartment and see it changing.
I’ll update some more tomorrow but in the mean time here is a photoblog entry for you.
