Ah the joys of a real internet connection. Been updating my pc with all sorts of new stuff thanks to a stupidly long 15m network cable I thankfully shipped over.
Realised my antivirus susbscription to Nortons has run out. Buggered if I am going to pay them any money (as I still believe a lot of the viruses eminate from AV companies – I know I know – I see conspiracies everywhere but it makes good business sense doesn't it?) so after not finding a work around and evaluating a number of free antivirus products, I stumbled across a 6 month version of NAV 2005 courtesy of google. If you want it you just install the Google Pack and select software you want in addition. Once installed it will also automatically handle sofware updates as and when they come out. Sort of useful but I disabled it after grabbing NAV as I like to do updates manually. Old school and all.
While I'm on the topic Google has a new 3D drawing package out, SketchUp. It is still in Beta but seems stable. Designed for modelling 3D buildings sto be plugged into Google Earth. Definitely also worth checking out.
