It is going to be a little heart breaking to leave behind Chiquita, the kitten. I wouldn’t have thought that two weeks could turn me around on my cat position. But it is just so hard to not love a kitten that you spend time with. I have revised my theory a bit when it comes to cats. Although I still think they are little hunters and have a detrimental effect on local wildlife I am prepared to admit that they can give as well as receive. Not in large amounts like dogs and generally in relation to something they want like food or a warm place to curl up.
I think I have been a little jaded in the past more to do with cat people rather than cats. It seems I was hasty. It wasn’t necessarily the cats I didn’t like but their handlers. They have tended to be needy, single females, or partnered females living in a dysfunctional relationship of some kind. I think their personalities can’t help but define their cats personality as well. Spooky.
The good news is that we will probably be living in or around this area so will be able to visit often. Hope she still remembers us once her real parents return home.
