Well sort of anyway. The clever gal managed to get herself employed yesterday. Interviewed at UBC and was asked to start today. A temporary ish role that could go through until March 2007. Wow that was nice work. Congratulations.

– What means this “Work” (UBC, Vancouver)
Here she is all dress up, and just been offered a contract to start work. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Congratulations you clever thing. Crap now its my turn I guess.
I’ve got my first interview with an agency tomorrow, and through friend of friends so that is always a bonus. We had a very successful mission to Valu Village last week and I have ended up with some pretty swish duds, all for under $20. I’ll look stunning in a slightly 70’s kitchy sort of way. Maybe a photo when I’m all dressed for the interview . I think I’ll head over again to VV again this afternoon, see if there is a better tie, and maybe a pair of shorts. I seem to be down to one pair of cutoffs. One needs some tender massaging and patching, and another with rotten nylon type stuff that I suspect is dumpster fodder.
On the apartment hunt, we had some measure of success over the weekend. Found a perfect apartment just of Commercial Drive. It is expensive and through a proper housing agency. I have just faxed the required forms of along with covering letter trying to convince them that we can afford it on only one income, and that I am not completely destitute. It isn’t the end of the world if that doesn’t go through as we found a pretty good alternative (but not available until September which adds a layer of complexity) and the owner isn’t too concerned re our employment. We’ll probably check out another sub-let place tonight as well as anything else that jumps out at us.
