If you follow the direction of mystics who have been pointing out for thousands of years the folly of mankind striving to shape what turns out to be an illusory world here on Earth then you’ll probably enjoy this clip based around the furtherest photo taken of Earth, where the planet we call home is no more than a single blue dot upon a backdrop of an infinitely expansive sky. Everything that happens on Earth is instantly put into a more realistic proportion ie. insignificant

The change in life pace has been intense. For the better part of a year now I have been living (and thinking) in slow time. This is the pace of real life. It is sedate and unhurried. It is peaceful and meditative. In slow time you are alive and fully aware of your surroundings. You are easily able to slip into present moment awareness.

Have you experienced the sensation that occurs when you start thinking about something that is really really small? Then start thinking of the things that make that up?
I talked the other day about getting a sense of our place in the Universe by thinking about the immenseness of the solar system, then the galaxies and then the Universe itself. Well the same thing happens when you start thinking about the really small things. And then the things that make those up. And so on.
When you get down to a quantum level things start to get really strange. Things that make you twitch a little. Cringe even. It goes against all you know to be true in your scientific gut, things like a particle being in two places at once. Just how is that possible? Unless.. Unless..?
Anyway have a look at the the eye of science site

I hope that from time to time you stop to think about scale. I don’t quite know when it happened to me, but sometime in the last 4 years (the time of oh so many awakenings for me) I realised a lot more about my place in the universe.
Most of us have come a ‘long’ way since the flat earth days, and the earth centric view of the universe. Sure we may not understand too much more than the big bang theory, but we at least have some idea of earth in the solar system, and possibly the solar system in the galaxy, and maybe just maybe, our galaxy in relation to the other galaxies.
Well we have sorted out our homelessness issues with everything being finalised yesterday. After a hard few days wandering all over the commercial drive area we had covered a lot of ground but still had yet to find what we were looking for.
We had seen expensive yet out of the way places, we had seen dark and dingy dives, we had chatted to people who were looking for a roomie, and might possibly consider a couple, we had put up a message at a community garden full of hippies, and we had finally found a great place with awesome landlord, only catch we couldn’t move in until September 1st, it would have had to have been October the first. Although that was still our best bet, as the landlady liked us and didn’t mind that neither one of us was currently working. We figured we would be able to work something out, maybe sublet or house sit for a month or something.
So we had had enough for the day and were heading to the bus home… Continue Reading
So there you are, like me, sitting at home, wondering why the world is so messed up, when along comes a certifiable explanation that just about covers everything. Well it at least covers 12 steps to enlightenment, according to David Wong at any rate.
You are probably wondering what all this has to do with monkeys? So was I so I kept on reading and doesn’t he just make a convincing case?
Is responsibility the first step in reaching a conscious state?
Without a knowledge of cause and effect in relation to personal actions and a solid grasp of the interconnectedness of all things how can it be possible for an individual to reach a conscious state?
I constantly hear people talking about how “person X or event y prevented me from reaching my goals” and thereby caused them to fail in whatever they had attempted. I hear people looking to a past experience or a future possibility, as if the answer to their lack of personal responsibility is somehow stationed there, unassailable. It is the perfect answer for many people who don’t wish to take responsibility for their own life, for what is more defensible than a past you cannot alter or a future that never arrives?
By anchoring to events that have happened in the past, people are using what amounts to fallible memories to build a story of why not’s. The leap to completely assuming responsibility for this present moment can not arrive. They become stuck in this historical story, mistakenly believing that this is the cause of their present position. Where as in reality the story is just that, a story. It is not them, and is not responsible for their current thoughts and feeling. Their current state is an unconscious result of believing that this historical story is them.
When a person is constantly looking to the future for their well-being they are giving up present moment responsibility in the misguided hope that their hopes and desires cannot be realised until certain conditions have been met. They cannot achieve their goals simply because they are projecting into a future time and set of circumstances that never arrives. The future is always that, in the future. By deciding that they will be responsible for themselves at a later date once certain events have come to pass, they are denying responsibility in the only time that it is possible, the present.
The first step then to increased consciousness therefore, must be in assuming complete responsibility for your current position in the Universe. No one else can possibly be held accountable. Every person creates their own reality, whether they acknowledge the fact or not. By simply ignoring what is and by creating and living in an imaginary past or future they will remain at a lower level of consciousness.
